Description

Attack On A Principal is an intimate excursion into the White House of President Annetta Nielsen, formerly the politically adroit Vice President to the recently murdered President Reginald Branson – the first African American President.  Branson’s best friend and former Acting Secretary of State, Alfred Turner, is now Nielsen’s Vice President.  As in Crosshairs, Turner narrates the unique challenges confronting the nation’s first female chief executive and describes the partnership he and Nielsen forged to deal with the deadly assaults on their administration by a segment of white men gripped by fear, victimhood, and racial animus.  The dynamism of Nielsen and Turner in an ever-evolving American political culture is the irresistible magnet that makes Attack On A Principal an exciting read.

    Captivating
Kennedy has written a captivating follow-up to the first volume in this series, “Crosshairs.” I just finished “Attack” and am already looking forward to the third volume of Kennedy’s trilogy. His manifestly vast experience in Washington informs the narrative throughout and gives both the storyline and the depth of the characters. I can’t wait to start volume three, so I will end this brief review here and go to my Amazon account and place my order right now.

    Another must-read from George Kennedy!
Attack on A Principal is the gripping sequel to Kennedy’s page-turner debut novel, Crosshairs. The President of the United States is a mixed-race woman. Her VP is a black man. Their challenges are historic and huge! Kennedy has done it again! He has written a timely, insightful, thought-provoking, and exciting book. ‘Timely’ because he conveys our current reality to the reader in graphic terms – Racism and hate are alive and well in the United States of America. Attack on a Principal provides a window into the world of white supremacy and domestic terrorism. The intended or unintended double entendre of the title suggests that in addition to the several attacks that take place on key members of the President’s Cabinet, i.e the ‘principals’, the ‘principles’ on which this country was founded are also under attack from the same people. ‘Insightful’ and ‘thought-provoking’ because Kennedy, through the voices of his main characters, examines the situation, explore options, and offers hope for the future. Kennedy’s experience as a US Foreign Service Officer and Washington insider is evident throughout the novel. He brings to life the day-to-day demands of Presidential decision-making and re-election bids. He demonstrates how Cabinet members and other principals within an administration can and should work together as a team for the good of the country. Attack on a Principal is indeed required reading for our times!
