Description
The Rest Of It – A Memoir, Volume II, continues my eventful journey chronicled in volume I “Cotton Fields To Summits – The View From Contested Ground – A Memoir- 2017. My journey was far from over, just momentarily interrupted.
In Volume II, my very full life continued with two horizon-broadening trips to The People’s Republic of China (PRC), a memorable two-week trip to Uganda in East Africa, and a permanent move to Arizona in the American Southwest, a move I labeled my last, most extended Foreign Service assignment.
To my complete surprise, I also discovered the satisfaction from launching an unexpected second vocation as an author of fiction novels.

I’m so pleased that you wrote this book especially about the rest of your journey. I have always admired you and felt proud of you as my special hometown Mizpah brother; however, after reading more of your many outstanding accomplishments, my chest is really busting with pride!! Your memoirs are amazing and so interesting to read.
I just wish that you had included some photographs of your extensive travel especially your travel experience in China! I would have also loved to see some photos of your wife, mother, son and siblings in the book. Sister Jo

To those who are looking for a great book to read, try the latest memoir by George Alfred Kennedy. I have had the opportunity to read George’s book: THE REST OF IT: A MEMOIR VOLUME II. Once I began reading, I found his writing to be passionate and emotional as he depicts the events and people in his life. This is a book that can be read in one or two days or over a short period of time. Mr. Kennedy has written several books. It appears that he has found his second calling in life.

I recently finished The Rest Of It by George Alfred Kennedy. The Rest Of It, is the follow up to his first book, From Cotton Fields To Summits, a two part memoir. From the first chapter to the last, George has the reader totally immersed in his unique, personal journey. I have known George for several years and yet I felt like I was meeting him for the first time. His love of family, his service to the country and his desire to give back to his community are deeply ingrained in his being and everyone whose life he touches is a benefactor of his character. George has the unique ability of sharing a story in a manner that creates the feeling that you are sitting next to him in the room where it happened. I highly recommend The Rest Of It. It’s a great read from an exceptional human being!

Chapter 15 is not just a tribute to our friendship; it is a treasure trove of memories, a legacy of laughter, and a bond that transcends continents and time. To see our camaraderie woven into the fabric of your storytelling is an honor that I hold in the highest regard.
Your visit to Kampala remains a highlight in our family’s history, and please know that you left a piece of your spirit here with us — an ‘African family’ that speaks of you fondly and often.
May your pen continue to be mightier than ever, and may the stories you tell continue to inspire & connect souls as they have always done.
Until we meet again, my friend, be well & keep enriching the world with your words.”
Warmest regards,
