Description
VEEP: The Principal Becomes Personal. In the second quarter of 2015, Vice President Alfred Turner stuns the political world with his announcement that, for family reasons, he will not be a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016. Turner is now a devoted family man with an alternate plan for his future. He also is in the crosshairs of an extremist movement with a well-placed ally in the U.S. Secret Service fearful that Turner may yet seek to direct this country’s future. VEEP: The Principal Becomes Personal is required reading if you have completed the trilogy told by Alfred Turner. George Kennedy is a writer, policy analyst, and observer of American politics. His passion, a carryover from a successful career as a senior career Foreign Service officer and federal executive, is analyzing how human nature manifests itself in American political culture. George is the author of three prior books “Crosshairs,” “Attack On A Principal,” and “In Her Own Right.” He has also published “Cotton Fields To Summits – A Memoir.”

Constance Morris Hope –
Kennedy Does It Again!
I am repeating myself from earlier reviews of his other books, but George Kennedy has done it again! VEEP – The Principal Becomes Personal is another terrific read! It is another MUST READ! Alfred Turner, an African American serving as Vice President during the second term of President Annetta Nielsen, a mixed-race woman, must make a critical decision as they approach the end of their time in office. Will he run for president of the United States as expected, a decision that would be welcomed by some and feared by others? The decision is not an easy one! Things have changed for Alfred Turner. How does he reconcile his long-held dream of running for president of the United States and the current threats to his life coming from domestic terrorists with the important changes that are happening in his personal life? Kennedy has a knack for immersing the reader in the emotions that Annetta, Alfred, Jo, and their parents feel as events unfold. Reflecting his experience as a diplomat and Washington ‘insider’, he also gives us a glimpse into decision-making at the highest levels about critical national and international issues. The end of the book comes too soon! Once again, the reader is left wanting more!
